why this glum outlook at such young age, doctor? hope, like despair, is a drag for a bird in flight. perhaps we cannot help looking back, looking ahead. but i have seen it should be to know where we are, to know the moment, or it will pull us down.
greetings to you too, Sapna. Sumi, i don't know whether i have conveyed anything in these lines. we journalists usually finish work late in the night. back home from work, i spend some time each night on the rooftop, allowing the day's sediments to settle down. sharp at midnight december 31/january 1, there was fireworks from many distances and many directions all around me. they were bidding farewell to 2009. rockets and crackers went tup-tup-tup. then there was silence for sometime. i found the new year waiting politely behind the curtain for 2009 to finish taking its final bow on the stage. a matter of etiquette and good behaviour.
I just wonder who might’ve told the New Year to be so patient, like an unusually disciplined cat. I listened to the crackers, the TV, and the conversations downstairs as I lay there on the neem leaves staring at the roof as the clock struck 12 heralding the New Year, unforgettable. Once again wish you a very happy New Year.
PS: I’m back and rejoined the office this morning.
