have you ever seen a cobra up close with its hood raised, spread full?

if you can detach yourself of your fear of its killing venom, the raised hood will seem like a benediction.

it is as though some Godly presence is showering its blessings on you. the wonderful pattern on its hood glistens magically. the beads that are its eyes hold you mesmerised. its tongue darts out and darts in, creating a blur that is the pinpoint of concentration.

I do remember such a sight but in an entirely different situation,a small cobra tried to bite my baby dog and I didn't have a choice but to ..... I'm one who cannot stand that slithery thing but still I did,not something I feel proud of but

remembered d.h. lawrence poem 'snake', which i studied in college. a tedious poem one had found it then and it is so even now... but it sums up in over a hundred lines (i don't have the correct number) what you convey in a few words!
