Return of Sherlock Holmes

Dear friends,
I am reviving this blog, asleep since April 2015.
Between then and now, I self-published a slender volume of poems Blow Again, North Wind, which is a collage of lines taken from this blog.

The book was launched at a meeting of my friends at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club last month (June 19, 2016).
It is a kind of book you can read without any strain during a two-hour train journey. I am sure you will like it. There were two television interviews, in which I tried to describe what it was all about, perhaps unsuccessfully. The theme is just as elusive as the dissipating mist.

Welcome back, Mr V! In your beloved cricketspeak, here's to a new innings! Hope that is the appropriate expression! :)

Yes, a new innings. Hopefully on another mode--free, playing one's game, wielding the long handle. I used to be a free hitting opening batsman in my college days, once even hitting the first ball of the innings delivered by a later on State player my friend Roopkumar straight out of the University Stadium here, into the cemetery beyond. It took 20 minutes for them to recover the ball. That one straight six is enough for a lifetime of thrill. Goosebumps run over my neck even today when I think of feel of the ball hitting the middle of the bat to sail and sail and sail away over the boundary and then the stadium and disappear into the sunlight regions of memory. It was 40 years back. Now I wheeze and cough when there is physical exertion.
