the fly

now i hear of a religious man who,
having lost all his hair from chemotherapy for cancer,
thinks it over and finds how
he can turn the whole affair to his advantage
saying
he had gone worshipping to the shrine where we shave our hair
as an offering to the Lord.

not a laughing matter, Poorni.
i am quoting below four lines crudely translated from Adhyatma Ramayana, our epic poem:

like the frog caught in the snake's throat
flinging its tongue at a passing fly,
we, who are caught in the quagmire of time,
shallow-minded go after mateiralistic cravings.

cravings need not be materialistic alone. it can be spiritual also. when one wants to be seen spiritual and cash in on the image, that too is a tragedy.

thanks for coming to this blog, dear friend.

it's not just the religious who do that :-)
making the best out of a bad situation is the indication of a very high survival instinct.

you are right kpj. let us go through everything intensely to know what is. this stage and that, everything that comes, as an adventure.
