listening

i listened to him--
his words,
like clean pebbles,
tangible.

the roar of the thundersquall
subsided outside
and a quiet crept into room,
snuggling for warmth.

through a leak in the roof,
dripped rain water,
into a copper pot,
half full.

i listened to him--
his words,
like clean pebbles,
tangible.

mtai, anonymuse, rk...
this i meant to communicate the condition of falling into meditation when listening to another person.

the thundersquall is outside and suddenly you find the room insulating you from its fury.

there is a leak in the roof and water drips through it and there is a copper pot on the floor collecting each drop and there is that rhythmic blum-blum-blum echo in the room.

i had the queer experience of listening to another person that way recently and felt a mirror-like clarity to what he was saying. what he said is unimportant--it was about how to grow a rooftop vegetable garden.

yes, Deepa, i think what you mean too... it is difficult to capture it in words, isn't it?
