this heart attack happening the other day in its wake brings a kind of lull when the wind falls silent and one holds the breath and listens, looking back as on reaching the top of a hill turning the head to see the path traversed winding its way down far below.
the 16th of this month is a milestone in our life. it is our 35th wedding anniversary.
this is how we used to look like 35 years ago when we became man and wife, both of us barely 23 years old:
and now we look like this:
our grandson Aiden, whom we call kunhikuttan, or kunhoottan, is also seen in the picture.
all the very best to all of you!!!

usually milestones pass us by, without our taking notice. this time i am home, drinking the milk the doctor had prescribed and looking at the calendar to see when i have to waddle out once again... so, there it is! november 16 comes 9 days before november 25 when i have to rejoin duty on completion of the prescribed period of rest.
WISH YOU BOTH MANY MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY. A HUNDRED--
NO THAT IS TOO MUCH. 99 WILL DO.
ALL THE BEST.
DHARMA RAJA.
there are among our ancestors on both my side and my wife's side who had sallied on to the late nineties. life had seemingly begun for them after the sixties. somehow i had felt the same from childhood to now; afterall, it was only the other day one was a child. one starts seeing life the same over a wide span when one falls into the trick of seeing life wholesome over its entire span. i don't know whether i have expressed the idea sufficiently clearly.
when we look at the matter in a larger perspective, it will become clear that, although centuries have rolled by, it was actually only the other day that marthanda varma, the then raja of the princely state of travancore, had chased his enemies the ettuveettil pillais along a particular street in thiruvananthapuram city. a friend of mine B. Murali, a popular and talented Malayalam story writer, writes in one of his stories about a person walking along this very street in the present day. the character felt a sudden sprouting of goose pimples all over his body when he realised the significance of the experience: "isn't this the very street," he thought, "along which i now walk with a profitable purchase of fresh sardines, that the brave and valourous veera marthanda varma had mircilessly chased his enemies to their doom!"
THANKS, DHARMA RAJA FOR YOUR WARM WISHES!
Your comments. if that is the case then let it be 160 years of healthy, wealthy, happy, prosperous and
very very peaceful life with all your kith and kin.
Dharma Raja.
Thank you, Dharma Rajaji, once again!
