transcendence

from dawn past into the midnight
we were on the cliff
overlooking the lagoon,
speaking nothing, watching
the fishermen flowing out with the ebb tide,
returning heavy with the evening tide,
and,
under the moon,
we found the ebb and flow,
out and in,
frozen
to the beyond.

Highly evocative.Even before the tsunami the sea always scared me. It is the closest metaphor to the human mind. Like the ceaseless chattering of the mind. JK is supposed to have recited a Tennyson poem on the sea during his last moments. Happy new year.

A lagoon and a cliff that overlooks, the ocean and tiny specks in fishing boats, good canvas.
Also a bit curious about your fascination for books of JK and Osho. To me ideas and commentaries of JK ( I havent read much of his) have been special. But the reading was tough as mind never is still these days.

Happy New Year to you too, Prabhakar, Anil!
Myself and Prabhakar too, I am sure, are but beginners with JK.
He is speaking the unspeakable. I have read in an Osha book that Lao Tzo had begun his slender book Tao Te Ching with the words "That which can be put into words is not Tao."
I have often felt reading JK that he is struggling all the time to put into words something which is beyond words. We cannot read his books or listen to his recorded talks as we read or listen to most others. He just extends his hand to us, it is for us to take it and walk with him and see it all ourselves. He never tells us what it is; we have to go beyond his words and see it all ourselves at our level, which can never be his. He never forces the pace. He is a subtle artist, he works on us silently without our knowing.
I have seen, Anil, he is there to work with us on our problems in silent way if we are really ready.
